International trade
Ottawa is uniquely positioned to support the international trade
efforts of its business community. A number of resources are available
to assist with increasing the success of trade initiatives, including:
Ottawa is a G8 capital city and benefits from a host of investment
and trade missions. At home here in Ottawa, we often host delegations
from cities and groups around the world who are looking to do business
with Ottawa companies. Conversely, investment and trade delegations
representing Ottawa companies visit a number of foreign destinations.

In addition to a wide variety of activities that promote Ottawa
as a preferred city in which to do business, Ottawa’s Global
Marketing team has developed ongoing relationships
with specific cities.
In addition, Ottawa is home to Canada’s Department of Foreign
Affairs and International Trade (DFAIT). Over 500 members of DFAIT’s
Canadian Trade Commissioner Service work for Canadian business in
over 140 cities around the world. Their job is to promote the economic
interests of Canada in the global marketplace. Learn more at the
Canadian
Trade Commissioner’s website.
